Why wonderkid lists don't match your save

A lot of young players in the FM database have no fixed Potential Ability. Instead they have a PA range, stored as a negative code (for example -9 or -95). When you start a new career, FM rolls a value inside that range. The same 17-year-old can be a 190-PA superstar in one save and a 140-PA squad player in the next. Any list of "the best FM27 wonderkids" is only a starting point.

Finding wonderkids in-game

Scout by age, not reputation. Set up a recruitment focus for players aged 15–19 in strong youth nations and leagues.
Use the star ratings. Your scouts' potential stars are an estimate that depends on their Judging Player Potential attribute. Better scouts give more reliable stars.
Watch for "Wonderkid" and "Breakthrough Prospect" labels in player profiles and the scouting centre.
Check hidden attributes. Professionalism and consistency often decide whether a talent reaches his potential. FM hides these from you.
